KidzQuest Children's Retreat
Epworth By The Sea, 99 Arthur J Moore Dr, St Simons Island, GA 31522
About
KidzQuest Children's Retreat includes worship, time to study God's Word, and sessions that focus on understanding what a relationship with Jesus really means. The retreat schedule also includes devotions, church time, a talent show and talent show practice, pool time (weather permitting), games outside led by camp staff, a cookout under the oaks, late night fun, free time, and an adult leader orientation.
• Ages: 8–12 years old
• Schedule: September 25–27, 2026, with programmed activities from Friday evening through Sunday late morning
• Price: Cost: $190 per person (in South GA Conference UMC) and $210 per person (out of South GA Conference UMC) – includes meals, cabin lodging, insurance, t-shirt and programming.
KidzQuest is an annual children’s fall retreat sponsored by South Georgia’s Connectional Ministries for students in 3rd–6th grades, where children and adult leaders from many church groups come together. All participants stay in cabins, with church groups kept together by same gender, and other church groups sharing cabin space; all beds are bunk beds and each person brings their own bedding and linens. Church leaders must provide adult chaperones, follow a required 1:6 chaperone-to-camper ratio, and have both genders represented in chaperones if both genders are represented with campers, and all adult chaperones must be Safe Sanctuaries certified. KidzQuest is a Safe Sanctuaries compliant event, and cabins include adult leader rooms, though some adults may stay in the large room with children because of the number of adults in each cabin. Free time is built into the schedule so groups can enjoy the island as part of the programming, and a group photo is scheduled at the amphitheater. Suzanne Akins serves as Camp & Retreat Director, and an Adult Leader Q&A Info Zoom is scheduled for Thursday, September 17th at noon, with an Adult Leaders Guide provided in the church packet at check-in.
Only online registration is accepted, and payment is required at the time of registration. Online payment is preferred, but mailed church checks made payable to “South GA Conference UMC” are accepted for KidzQuest registration; personal checks are not accepted. Registrations without payment are considered pending, and payment must be received within 7 days or the registration will be dropped. Church leaders keep all youth medical forms and insurance information with them and submit one printed Safe Sanctuaries Form per group, filled out and signed by the pastor. Church leaders also provide participants with a packing list, and all beds are bunk beds.
